Tamy Moyo Draws Inspiration From Heartbreak for New Song “Unobhowa”

Zimbabwean songstress Tamy Moyo says her latest single “Unobhowa” was inspired by the way many men recklessly break women’s hearts. She performed the new track at Girlfest, held at Old Hararians on Saturday.

Speaking at the event, Tamy explained that her motivation came from real-life experiences that many women face in relationships.

“These men easily hurt us, they do things that break our hearts,” she said. “They lie for no reason and rather than telling us that they don’t want us anymore they always choose to string us along.”

She emphasized that many men who break women’s hearts lack direction in life and often cause unnecessary pain in the process.

Tamy used the stage to deliver an energetic and emotional performance that resonated with the crowd. She expressed her gratitude for the reception she received.

“I’m overjoyed and so grateful for the performance. I’m thankful to my wonderful team who work tirelessly to help in putting up a good show. I was very excited to see people’s reaction to our act and to know that they were enjoying every moment,” she said.

Her setlist included fan favorites such as “Mamero” featuring Silent Killer, and “Husiku Hwese,” a remix with Mark Ngwazi. The audience responded with energy, singing along and dancing throughout the performance.

The Girlfest stage also featured DJ Mimi, DJ Pretty Gangsta, DJ King Her, Quonfuzed, Chillmaster, Kae Chaps, Dexter Rapper and Dad from Uganda, ExQ, and Black Diamond from South Africa.

Dexter Rapper and his father, known simply as Dad, became internet sensations after a viral video showcased their synchronized dance moves. Their live performance at Girlfest continued to build on that momentum, with both delivering a charismatic show.

Since its establishment in 2019, Girlfest Zimbabwe has become more than just a music event. It was created as a safe space for women to gather, enjoy music, and share experiences. Over the years, it has grown into a movement that promotes sisterhood, fun, and networking opportunities for women across the country.

Tamy’s performance highlighted the essence of Girlfest. By using her platform to speak about issues that affect women, she reaffirmed the festival’s mission of empowerment and connection.

“Unobhowa” is now part of her growing discography and speaks directly to women who have experienced heartbreak. Through the song, Tamy not only entertains but also sparks conversations around love, honesty, and respect in relationships.
