Tanto Wavie Drops New EP ‘Rudo Ibofu 2’ Solidifying His TrapSu Legacy

TRAPSU artist Tanto Wavie has released his highly anticipated EP, ‘Rudo Ibofu 2’, building on the success of his first project, ‘Rudo Ibofu’. The six-track EP, released last Friday, continues the narrative that has earned him a devoted following, blending trap, love ballads, and sungura influences into his signature sound.
The EP features six tracks: ‘Unondiitira’, ‘Makazvinzwa Naniko’, ‘Zvatave’, ‘Ndiwe’, ‘Jeri Rerudo’, and ‘Zvawaida’. Each song showcases Tanto Wavie’s versatility, with the opener ‘Unondiitira’ setting an emotional tone that runs through the project. Fans have singled out ‘Ndiwe’ and ‘Jeri Rerudo’ as standout tracks, praising the heartfelt lyrics and catchy production.
Early reactions to the EP have been positive. Tanto Wavie described the feedback as encouraging. “The reception is okay because people are vibing with it and connecting to the music. That’s always the goal,” he said.
Beyond the EP, Tanto Wavie revealed plans to expand the TrapSu genre, his unique fusion of trap and sungura. He intends to sell TrapSu to other artists, giving them an opportunity to experiment with the sound he has pioneered. This move aims to turn TrapSu into a broader movement within Zimbabwean music.
With ‘Rudo Ibofu 2’, Tanto Wavie reinforces his status as one of the most inventive voices in Zimbabwean hip-hop. The EP not only continues his personal story but also sets the stage for TrapSu to grow beyond his own catalogue. Fans and fellow artists can expect more innovation from Tanto Wavie as he pushes the boundaries of the genre.
