Zim Content Creators Head to Zambia for ‘‘AISHA’’ Premiere

Fifteen Zimbabwean content creators, including Frets Donzvo and Mama Vee, are set to attend the premiere of Zambian comedy film ‘‘AISHA.’’ The delegation is led by Takunda Tapfuma, co-founder of The Content Creators Association of Zimbabwe (COCAZ), who expressed excitement about the cultural exchange opportunity.
Tapfuma said the film, starring Zambian comedian Lucky Comedy, explores cultural values and promotes unity, making it a perfect fit for COCAZ’s mission to preserve and promote African cultural identity. In an interview with Zimpapers Arts and Entertainment Hub, he said the premiere offers a chance to showcase Zimbabwe’s rich cultural heritage.
“AISHA reflects cultural values that resonate deeply with COCAZ’s mission. This premiere allows us to promote cross-cultural understanding and highlight Zimbabwean talent,” Tapfuma said.
Frets Donzvo added that the trip aims to strengthen collaboration and creative policy across Africa. Lucky Comedy said the film seeks to unite African audiences through comedy, featuring performers from various regions speaking their own dialects to encourage understanding and acceptance.
The story follows Aisha, a young villager who moves to the city seeking better opportunities, only to discover that urban life comes with its own challenges. The film blends traditional heritage with contemporary city life and features both celebrated comedians and respected traditional chiefs.
The Zimbabwean delegation includes Frets Donzvo, Mama Vee, Kimnanah, Rutendo, Muku Zim1, Kuda Rushman, Shamiso Nduru, Mercy, and scriptwriter Bridget Paradza. While in Zambia, they will meet local content creators, take part in cultural events, and explore opportunities for collaboration.
Tapfuma said the visit will strengthen ties between Zimbabwean and Zambian creatives and open doors for future joint projects. “This premiere allows our content creators to showcase their talents, learn from others, and foster cross-cultural understanding,” he said.
COCAZ unites Zimbabwean content creators to encourage growth, development, and collaboration. The organisation provides training, networking opportunities, access to resources, and advocates for creators’ rights while promoting Zimbabwean content globally. COCAZ members have previously taken part in cultural exchange programmes in Iran and Nigeria, including the Nigeria South Africa Relations (NSAR) 2025 conference.
The ‘‘AISHA’’ premiere presents another opportunity for Zimbabwean creatives to engage with the African entertainment scene and highlight the country’s cultural richness.
