Miss Universe Zimbabwe Top 18 Finalists Set the Stage for a Fierce Battle for the Crown

The release of the Top 18 finalists for the Miss Universe Zimbabwe beauty pageant has sparked excitement across Zimbabwe and beyond, with many pageant followers already predicting one of the toughest competitions in recent years. Organisers officially unveiled the contestants yesterday, introducing a diverse group of women with strong backgrounds in modelling, media, business and international pageantry. The finalists represent different parts of Zimbabwe, while some are based in countries such as Canada, Australia and the United Kingdom. Their varied experiences and achievements have added prestige and anticipation to this year’s contest. With only one crown available and many accomplished contestants competing for it, the race to become the next Miss Universe Zimbabwe queen is shaping up to be highly competitive.

The Top 18 finalists include Kuzivakaashe Mujakachi, Jemima Mandemwa, Monalisa Dube, Roseanna Hall, Shelly Bent, Ruvimbo Njomboro, Malaika Mushandu, Cheryl Sambadzai, Nomaqhikiza Mokoni, Paris Huni, Brunnette Makanyiso, Kudzaishe Mwanika, Virginia Tlou Nyambe, Adelle Chinamasa, Charmaine Mabvundwe, Nicole Nyawera, Tatenda Madunga and Sindiso Ndlovu. Each contestant brings her own personality, strengths and life story to the competition. The organisers praised the women for their determination and commitment, describing them as phenomenal finalists who have already demonstrated resilience and excellence. The pageant has become more than a beauty competition, as it now focuses heavily on leadership, confidence, social influence and public engagement. Many supporters believe this year’s group is one of the strongest line-ups since the pageant returned in 2023.

The competition structure adds even more pressure to the contest because only 12 finalists will move on to the next stage. Six contestants will be eliminated before the boot camp phase begins ahead of the grand finale. The boot camp stage is expected to test the contestants in areas such as communication skills, discipline, runway performance, teamwork and public presentation. Contestants will need to prove that they can handle the demands of an international competition while also serving as ambassadors for Zimbabwe. The grand finale is scheduled to take place on June 6 at the Harare Hippodrome, where the next queen will officially be crowned in front of judges, supporters and industry stakeholders.

The winner of Miss Universe Zimbabwe 2026 will earn the opportunity to represent the country at the 75th Miss Universe pageant in Puerto Rico later this year. This edition of the global competition is particularly significant because it marks the diamond anniversary of the Miss Universe contest. Representing Zimbabwe on such a major international stage carries both prestige and responsibility. Contestants understand that winning the crown could open doors to international modelling, advocacy work, entertainment opportunities and brand partnerships. At the same time, the title holder will also carry the hopes of Zimbabwean supporters who want to see the country perform strongly on the global stage.

Several contestants in this year’s competition already have impressive pageant experience, which has made the race even more interesting. Malaika Mushandu remains one of the most recognised names among the finalists because she rose to fame after winning Miss Zimbabwe in 2011 at a young age. Her return to pageantry has generated strong public interest, with many people curious to see how her experience and maturity will influence her performance. Ruvimbo Njomboro has also built a strong reputation over the years after placing as second runner-up in 2024 and later representing Zimbabwe at Miss Cosmo 2024. Her consistency and growth have positioned her as one of the serious contenders for the crown this year.

Roseanna Hall’s inclusion has also attracted attention because she previously served as a judge for Miss Universe Zimbabwe 2025. She already holds the Miss Zimbabwe-Diaspora 2017 crown and now returns as a contestant with extensive knowledge of the pageant industry. Her experience in judging and participating in competitions could give her an advantage during interviews and stage presentations. Shelly Bent has also emerged as one of the standout contestants following her strong international performance in India last year. She became the only African contestant to reach the Top 12 at the Universal Woman pageant, a milestone that highlighted both her talent and international appeal. Her achievements have earned her admiration from many pageant supporters across Africa.

Kuzivakaashe Mujakachi is another finalist who has already established a name beyond Zimbabwe’s borders. The Zimbabwean-Canadian model and television personality gained international recognition through her appearances on Big Brother Canada 11 and The Traitors Canada. Her media experience and public confidence could become major strengths throughout the competition. She first entered the spotlight after finishing as Miss World Zimbabwe 2018 Second Princess and winning the People’s Choice award. Her achievements made history because she became the first contestant in Miss World Zimbabwe history to hold both honours simultaneously. Her return to pageantry has added star power and international attention to this year’s Miss Universe Zimbabwe competition.

Since the relaunch of Miss Universe Zimbabwe in 2023, the competition has continued to grow in visibility and influence. Previous winners such as Sakhile Dube, Brooke Bruk-Jackson and Lyshanda Moyas helped rebuild the pageant’s reputation while inspiring younger contestants to pursue careers in modelling and advocacy. The pageant now attracts women from different professional and cultural backgrounds, making it more inclusive and competitive. Organisers have also worked to position the competition as a platform for empowerment, leadership and representation rather than focusing only on beauty standards. This shift has helped increase public interest and international recognition for the Zimbabwean pageant industry.

Excitement is expected to continue building as the finalists prepare for the next phase of the competition. Fans are already debating possible winners on social media while pageant analysts continue to examine the strengths of each contestant. With experienced queens, returning finalists and internationally recognised personalities competing for the crown, the Miss Universe Zimbabwe 2026 competition promises high drama and strong performances. The upcoming boot camp and final event will likely test every contestant mentally, physically and emotionally. By the time the crown is awarded at the Harare Hippodrome, Zimbabwe will have selected a queen ready to represent the nation proudly at one of the world’s biggest beauty pageants in Puerto Rico.
