MultiChoice Talent Factory Opens Applications for 2026 Intake

MultiChoice Talent Factory (MTF), the pan-African film and television training institution, has officially opened applications for its 2026 intake, offering aspiring filmmakers across Africa a fully-funded pathway into the growing film and television industry.

The nine-month programme targets African graduates with ambitions in directing, filmmaking, scriptwriting, producing, and storytelling. It equips participants with professional skills to craft authentic African stories for local and global audiences. Applications close on February 27, and candidates can apply online via https://applications.multichoicetalentfactory.com.

The programme arrives at a time when demand for Africa-led content is increasing globally. MTF positions itself as a key pipeline for developing skilled creatives capable of meeting industry demands while amplifying African voices on international platforms.

Following MultiChoice’s integration into CANAL+, the company has reinforced its commitment to African content production by investing in the next generation of filmmakers through hands-on training and mentorship. MultiChoice Zimbabwe confirmed that the programme is delivered via a hybrid model, combining interactive online learning with intensive in-person sessions.

“The 2026 intake introduces a comprehensive curriculum designed to balance theoretical knowledge with practical engagement. During the programme, students gain insights into the business of filmmaking while learning their craft from the industry’s best minds,” the statement said.

MTF operates academies in Kenya, Nigeria, and Zambia, serving aspiring filmmakers from 14 African countries. The programme provides practical training, industry exposure, and access to professional networks essential for success in the competitive entertainment landscape.

Participants are required to produce their own film projects, which are broadcast on DStv and GOtv channels such as Maisha Magic, Zambezi Magic, and Africa Magic, and are also available on the streaming platform Showmax. Since its launch in 2018, MTF has trained 296 filmmakers, with graduates producing over 42 films.

“Post-graduation, alumni success rates are high. Most go on to work within the MultiChoice ecosystem, contributing to major African productions. The MTF accreditation makes graduates highly sought-after, and many have launched their own ventures. To date, more than 50 production companies have been established by MTF alumni,” MultiChoice Zimbabwe said.

The programme supports a hyperlocal content strategy that empowers Africans to tell their own stories, a model that continues to gain international recognition and positions MTF as a cornerstone for nurturing Africa’s creative talent.
