Chawapiwa ready for new challenges

Warriors and Sekhukhune United forward Talent Chawapiwa says he is ready to take up new challenges as his team braces for the 2021/22 DStv Premier League which gets underway in August.

The Zimbabwean is one of the many new signings at the club after joining the premiership new boys last week from AmaZulu.

“It’s always good to face new challenges and always help the team achieve it’s goals and I am glad they have trusted me to do so,” he said.

The talented speedy winger also highlighted he has been in touch with team for quite a long time and is happy to have finally made the move.

“It’s a team with a big vision, we where in touch for long and I was impressed with their vision, hence the move,” Chawapiwa noted.

On national team call-up

Given the major driver of his move was all about game time, Chawapiwa believes Sekhukhune will provide him the opportunity to play more games and fight for a jersey in the Warriors fold.

The former AmaZulu man said he has to continue working hard and prove to the coach (es) that he has what it takes to don the gold and green jersey.

“Football speaks for itself if a player performs well the chances are high to be called to national team so I haven’t to do my best on the field and the rest will follow,” said Chawapiwa.

He also added that he already feels at home at Sekhukhune since the team has fellow Zimbabweans who include captain Tapuwa Kapini and Evans Rusike among others in their books.

“It’s always good and it makes me feel comfortable knowing that I have someone watching my back who is going to take me through the tradition of the team,” he said.

Chawapiwa whose career started in 2013 at Harare City went on to represent several clubs including ZPC Kariba and FC Platinum before joining South Africa’s Baroka in 2017 and AmaZulu in 2019.
