Derek Chisora Eyes One Last Fight Amid Rising Challenges in Heavyweight Division

Derek Chisora, the Zimbabwe-born British heavyweight boxing veteran, has long declared that he has just one fight left in his illustrious career. Known for his relentless fighting style and the “War” mantra that defines his approach, Chisora has built a reputation as one of the toughest competitors in the heavyweight division.

Over nearly two decades and 49 professional bouts, Chisora has faced some of the biggest names in boxing. He has squared off against Tyson Fury three times, Dillian Whyte twice, and former world champions like Vitali Klitschko and David Haye. Despite his grit and determination, he has never held a full world championship title.

Recently, Chisora has enjoyed a notable resurgence, winning his last three fights by unanimous decision against Otto Wallin, Joe Joyce, and Gerald Washington. These victories have helped reassert his position as a top contender in the heavyweight scene.

Currently, Chisora is the mandatory challenger for the IBF heavyweight title, held by Daniel Dubois. However, Dubois is set to face Oleksandr Usyk in an undisputed title showdown this July — a fight Chisora has expressed interest in watching keenly, perhaps foreshadowing his hopes for a future world title opportunity.

Chisora originally planned to retire after his 50th fight but may be tempted to continue if a title shot becomes available soon. His fighting spirit and passion for the sport suggest he’s not quite ready to step away just yet.

Adding to the excitement in the heavyweight division, rising star Fabio Wardley has publicly called out Chisora for a potential showdown. Wardley, who recently delivered a spectacular one-punch knockout against Australian contender Justis Huni in the 10th round, posted on X, “WAR vs WAR… gimme a call.” The Ipswich fighter’s undefeated record now stands at 19-0-1 as he pushes toward world title contention.

As Chisora contemplates his final fight, the heavyweight division remains vibrant and competitive. Whether it’s a clash with Wardley or a chance at a world title, fans will be watching closely to see if “Del Boy” can add one more chapter to his enduring career.
