“Famba Tino” wave captures Lyon’s attention
The term “Famba Tino” which is used by Zimbabwean fans across the world as a figure of speech to praise and encourage Tinotenda Kadewere has amusingly captured the attention of Olympique Lyon. Lyon made use of the Shona statement on its official twitter account in the aftermath of a goal scored by the Zimbabwean forward in a 2-1 win over St Etienne yesterday evening.
Kadewere was in impressive form yesterday after scoring two crucial goals which helped Lyon bounce back from a goal down to claim a hard fought 2-1 victory. The man of the match performance underlined Kadewere’s goal scoring qualities which attracted Lyon’s attention when he won the golden boot in ligue 1.
It was surprisingly a dream come true for Kadewere who had prior to the encounter revealed that he had dreamt of himself bagging a brace in the encounter. He may have started from the bench but his dream transformed into reality after rising from the bench to score the two vital goals.
The lanky Zimbabwean forward will now be turning his attention to helping Zimbabwe who face African champions in back to back Africa cup of nations qualifiers beginning with the first tie slated for Algeria this Thursday.
On Friday Kadewere earned heaps of praise from Olympique Lyon coach Rudi Garcia who says he has been impressed by many of Kadewere’s qualities which go beyond a natural eye for goal. Garcia praised Kadewere’s first touch, his heading abilities as well as possessing an eagerness to help the team in defence.
