FC Platinum Head Coach Norman Mapeza Frustrated After Goalless Draw Against Herentals

FC Platinum head coach Norman Mapeza expressed his frustration after his team failed to secure all three points in a goalless draw against Herentals at Rufaro Stadium on Wednesday.
Despite dominating the midweek fixture from start to finish, the Zvishavane-based side struggled to convert a series of golden opportunities, leaving Mapeza disappointed with the outcome.
“It’s two points dropped. The reason is simple, we got clear chances in the first half,” said the former Warriors mentor during his post-match remarks. “We should have wrapped up the game before halftime.”
The Platinum Miners created several clear-cut chances, particularly in the opening 45 minutes. Thandolwenkosi Ngwenya, Oscar Bhebhe and Jarrison Selemani all threatened the Herentals goal, with Bhebhe hitting the crossbar just minutes into the match from close range.
Ngwenya, currently enjoying a strong run of form, was denied in a one-on-one situation by the Herentals goalkeeper, while Selemani missed a great opportunity that could have broken the deadlock.
Mapeza was especially critical of his team’s finishing, stressing that their dominance deserved a better result. “What happened in the second half was supposed to be game management. Everything should have been done in the first half. Herentals never gave us any problems in that period.”
The match showcased FC Platinum’s superiority in terms of possession and attacking intent, but their inability to turn pressure into goals proved costly.
Looking ahead, Mapeza is hopeful his side will find their scoring touch as they prepare to face struggling giants Dynamos over the weekend. A win would be a much-needed boost as the former champions aim to stay in the race for the Premier Soccer League title.
With title rivals gaining momentum, FC Platinum will need to turn dominant performances into victories—starting with their crucial fixture against Dynamos.
