Highlanders CEO Brian Moyo Suspended Over Alleged Fraud and Corruption

Highlanders Football Club has suspended its Chief Executive Officer (CEO), Brian Moyo, with immediate effect following allegations of fraud and corruption.

Moyo, who has been at the helm for less than four months, is accused of pocketing US$5,000 from the transfer of two players. Reports indicate that he also submitted a fraudulent invoice of US$23,000 to the club, despite the actual transfer fee owed to Bulawayo Chiefs being US$18,000. The discrepancy was accidentally uncovered, leading to his suspension on Thursday during a joint board and executive meeting.

Sources claim that this is not the first time Moyo has been implicated in similar misconduct at Bosso. He was reportedly dismissed in the past for a similar offense before making a return to the club in November 2024.

The 53-year-old Moyo, who previously worked at the Sports and Recreation Commission (SRC), replaced Sihlangu Dlodlo as Highlanders CEO late last year. His appointment was initially welcomed as a step towards stabilizing the club’s management.

The club has yet to issue an official statement regarding Moyo’s suspension or the next steps in handling the matter.
