Mandizwidza eye’s a place in Gordon’s A team

Shingirai Mandizwidza, a second-year Business and Computer Science student, is looking to make an impact in the upcoming season for the Gordon College soccer team.

With several senior players set to leave after graduation, Mandizwidza is aiming to secure a place in the A team. Though he is aware that it won’t be automatic, he’s ready to work hard and impress the technical team.

“I am sure with some freshmen coming and some senior players having left, I am in a good position to make into into the A’team. I know that my place will be not automatic so I will continue to work hard and seek to impress the technical team”, said Shingirai.

As a forward, he’s hoping to score double-digit goals this season and establish himself as one of the top players.

“The coming season is hugely important for me in as far as positioning myself as a top player. I want to grab whatever opportunities I get with both hands otherwise I am positive of a great season ahead” says Mandizwidza.

Gordon College will play between 25-32 games this season, making it an exciting time for the team.

Despite the 21-year old forward juggling academics and sport activity, he’s committed to reaching his goals. “It is obviously not easy having to juggle academics with my endeavours on the sports field. It is very tough but sometimes you just have to work hard to achieve on both fronts” says Mandizwidza.
