Norman Mapeza begins work at FC Platinum
Norman Mapeza has officially commenced work at FC Platinum after the club announced his return to Zvishavane on Friday. Mapeza has taken over from Hendrikus De Jongh who failed to meet the minimum Caf qualification requirements needed for him to sit on the bench in champions league assignments.
Mapeza’s immediate task will be to prepare the platinum miners for two important Caf champions league assignments against Costa Do Sol of Mozambique. FC Platinum’s preliminary round first leg tie will be an away encounter in Mozambique this coming weekend with the second leg slated for the national sports stadium on the weekend of 4-6 December.
After guiding FC Platinum to the Caf champions league group phase the last time around, Norman Mapeza will be hoping for a similiar feat despite the minimal period he will have to prepare his charges.
Mapeza returns to FC Platinum following a stint with Chippa United where some indifferences saw him part ways with the South African club after spending 5 months with the Chilli Boys. Experience attained coaching FC Platinum, the Warriors and Chippa United is expected to be vital for Mapeza as he seeks to guide FC Platinum to the mini-league of Caf’s premier club competition.
