Scottland FC Crowned 2024 Northern Region Soccer League Champions

In a landmark ruling, Pedzisai ‘Scott’ Sakupwanya’s Scottland FC has been officially declared the 2024 Northern Region Soccer League (NRSL) champions. The decision, announced on Thursday, follows a dispute between Scottland FC and Karoi United, and has been finalized by the Zimbabwe Football Association (ZIFA) Appeals Committee.

The controversy stemmed from a match that was abandoned, with Scottland FC awarded a 3-0 victory after the NRSL Disciplinary Committee ruled that Karoi United was at fault for causing the disruption. The Appeals Committee upheld this ruling, thus confirming Scottland’s status as champions of the NRSL.

With this ruling, Scottland FC has secured their promotion to Zimbabwe’s top-flight league for the upcoming season. The NRSL expressed their satisfaction with the outcome, stating, “This judgement is a vindication of our disciplinary committee. We believe that the decision aligns with football’s known rules and regulations and reflects the spirit of fair play.”

Scottland FC, led by Sakupwanya, has been actively preparing for their debut in the top league. The club has already made notable signings, bolstering their squad with key players from across the league. Among the new additions are top goal scorer Lynoth Chikuhwa, experienced players such as Peter Muduhwa, Mthokozisi Msebe, Talbert Shumba, Vassil Kawe, Walter Musona, and even the renowned Khama Billiat.

The club’s rise in the NRSL and their subsequent entry into the top-flight league marks a significant achievement, and the local football community is eagerly awaiting their performance in the upcoming season. With the support of Sakupwanya’s investment and strategic signings, Scottland FC looks set to make a major impact in Zimbabwean football.
