Twine Phiri Promises to Transform ZIFA in 100 Days if Elected

As Zimbabwe’s football community prepares for the ZIFA presidential elections on January 25, 2025, Twine Phiri, a veteran football administrator and former president of CAPS United, has pledged to bring significant improvements to the football association within his first 100 days in office.

During the presentation of his manifesto at the Holiday Inn Hotel in Bulawayo on January 13, Phiri expressed confidence in his ability to make impactful changes at ZIFA, stating, “I just need 100 days to improve ZIFA.” He aims to use his extensive experience in football administration to revitalize the association and address its pressing challenges.

One of the key points in Phiri’s vision for ZIFA is leveraging available funds from FIFA to rejuvenate the ZIFA Village and upgrade the 53 Livingstone offices. He believes these resources are vital for creating a more efficient and professional environment that will benefit the entire football ecosystem in Zimbabwe.

Phiri is one of six candidates vying for the top position at ZIFA. The other contenders include Nqobile Magwizi, who is considered a frontrunner, as well as Phillimon Machana, Martin Kweza, Marshall Gore, and Makwinji Soma Phiri.

As the election approaches, football stakeholders and enthusiasts are closely monitoring the candidates’ promises, with Phiri’s bold 100-day plan standing out as a statement of intent. The outcome of the election will significantly shape the future of Zimbabwean football, and Phiri’s proposal is one of the most talked-about among those hoping for a new era in the sport’s administration.
