Warriors threaten to boycott Uganda match.

The Zimbabwe national team, the Warriors have once again threatened not to play their next match at the Afcon qualifiers. They will be facing off against Uganda in their second match encounter in Egypt.

The warriors have lamented lack of appreciation by the local football body ZIFA for failing to pay them their appearance fees. The national team players had been promised that the outstanding amount of around 7000 would be paid after their game with Egypt. It appears the full amount has not yet been paid as per the undertaking by ZIFA. The players have advised that they will not play the match against Uganda tommorow if the said money is not deposited into their accounts.

The acting minister of Sport Kazembe Kazembe has however assured the players that their money will be paid. Of great concern is that a fundraising dinner was held by the Warriors fundraising committee which realised thousands of dollars. The president and top business men pledged towards the warriors funds.

That money has however not been accounted for prompting Norton legislator Themba Mliswa to querry where the money had gone. He said, “750 000 was diverted to the finance of ZIFA account while the players in Egypt are suffering, Someone who stole the money is still free, what are the law enforcement agents doing in Zimbabwe”.

ZIFA is however claiming that it has not received the money from the Warriors fundraising committee. It remains to be seen whether the players will participate in the match tomorrow.
