Zimbabwe Captain Sikandar Raza Focuses on Team Readiness Ahead of T20I Tri-Series in Pakistan

Zimbabwe captain Sikandar Raza has stressed that his team’s readiness, particularly in bowling and fielding, will determine their chances when they open the T20I tri-series against hosts Pakistan in Rawalpindi on Tuesday.
Speaking to the media on the eve of the tournament, Raza said, “Before I know the plan to beat Pakistan, I have to know my team first. If they can bowl and field, then we have the ability to beat Pakistan.”
Raza acknowledged the challenge posed by Pakistan, a side known for its strength in the T20 format, but expressed confidence in Zimbabwe’s ability to compete with top-quality opposition. “Even the record can confirm that we managed to beat very strong teams we have played against, and our idea is always the same – the idea of winning,” he added.
The captain’s remarks reflect a confident yet pragmatic approach, highlighting the importance of fundamental skills in cricket. Raza’s focus on bowling discipline and sharp fielding underlines his strategy of building a competitive Zimbabwe side capable of challenging higher-ranked teams.
Zimbabwe enter the tri-series with a record of surprising performances against strong opposition, and Raza believes that a well-prepared and cohesive team can exploit any opportunity in the matches against Pakistan and other competitors.
The tri-series promises high-intensity T20 action, and Raza’s leadership will be crucial in guiding Zimbabwe as they aim to make a mark on foreign soil.
