ZOC Presidential Elections Set for 27 April: Key Candidates and Positions Up for Grabs

The Zimbabwe Olympic Committee (ZOC) is set to hold its presidential elections on 27 April 2025 in Harare, with the election process officially underway. On Monday, the ZOC Nominations and Elections Committee released the list of eligible candidates, along with the voters’ roll. The elections will determine the leadership of the organization for the next term, with several key positions open for contest.

Among the positions up for election are President, Two Vice Presidents, Treasurer, Seven Board Members, and Five Legal Practitioners for the ZOC Disciplinary Committee.

Incumbent President Seeks Re-election

Thabani Gonye, the current president of ZOC, who took office in 2021, is seeking a second four-year term. Gonye, who has overseen a period of growth and progress for the organization, expressed confidence in his leadership during an interview with Zimpapers Sports Hub.

“When I look at my presidency, my first term, my four years, there has been progression,” Gonye remarked. “There are things that we can all look up to and say, is there change in terms of where we are going? Certainly, I believe that is the answer, that we are going somewhere.”

His statement reflects his belief in the continued development of the committee and the sports landscape in Zimbabwe under his leadership.
