The Vine Choir: A Decade of Ministry and Music Excellence

The Vine Choir continues to solidify its place as a powerhouse in gospel music, capturing the hearts of many with its soulful and spirit-filled performances. Last year, the Harare International Conference Centre (HICC) hosted a truly unforgettable evening during the live recording of their latest album, Great Is Thy Faithfulness.

The event brought together a global lineup of gospel music giants. Headliners included the award-winning American gospel icons Jekalyn Carr and VaShawn Mitchell. South African and German performers added a multicultural flair, while UK-based Zimbabwean artist Blessing Annatoria Chitapa graced the stage with her electrifying performance. Together, they celebrated The Vine Choir’s remarkable 10-year journey in the competitive gospel music industry.

A Rich Musical Legacy

Founded in 2014 under the directorship of multi-award-winning gospel musician Everton Mlalazi, The Vine Choir has consistently delivered exceptional music. Their debut album, Musandipfuure, released in 2018, was a bold entry into the gospel music scene. In 2022, they followed up with the live-recorded album The Great Physician, a collaboration featuring South African Grammy-winning Soweto Gospel Choir, Mahalia Buchanan, Mabongi Mabaso, and a full orchestra.

Now, the choir’s latest album, Great Is Thy Faithfulness, marks another milestone. This 13-track masterpiece was carefully crafted over six months, reflecting the group’s dedication and faith. Produced by Nigel Nyangombe, mixed by Courage C.O.G Beats, and mastered by Grammy-winning engineer Dave McNair, the album delivers a world-class sound.

A Star-Studded Production

The album showcases an impressive lineup of collaborations and original works. Key highlights include:

  • Sewakhile (He is Built) featuring Everton Mlalazi
  • The title track, Great Is Thy Faithfulness
  • Tariro featuring Blessing Annatoria and Peniel Tambama
  • Wait on the Lord featuring Jekalyn Carr

Other standout tracks include a remix of Musandipfuure, Sweet By And By, Heaven, and Tenzi Nditungamire featuring Natasha Mlalazi.

Celebrating 10 Years of Ministry

Gamuchirai Mlalazi, The Vine Choir’s manager, describes the album as a celebration of their decade-long journey of ministry. “Great Is Thy Faithfulness encapsulates faith, perseverance, and dedication to spreading the Gospel through music,” she said. “The album is a blend of original compositions and reimagined classics, designed to inspire and uplift listeners while honoring God’s unwavering faithfulness.”

Everton Mlalazi, the choir’s founder and executive producer, extended his gratitude to the artists and contributors who made the project possible. “This live-recorded album is more than a collection of songs—it is a testimony to collaboration, faith, and the unifying power of music,” he remarked.

A Global Impact

With their unique sound and ability to bridge cultural boundaries, The Vine Choir has proven that gospel music is a universal language. The release of Great Is Thy Faithfulness not only celebrates a decade of accomplishments but also sets the stage for an even brighter future. The album promises to touch lives, strengthen faith, and continue the choir’s mission to glorify God through music.
