ZIFA Makes Warriors Sign Indemnity Forms

The Zimbabwe Football Association (ZIFA) is planning on making players called up for national duty to sign indemnity forms.

The forms are meant to prevent those who sign them from boycotting matches or going on strike. 

Interim coach Norman Mapeza on Thursday named a provisional 25-man squad for the first match against Liberia at the National Sports Stadium on June 11.
Some of the players includ Tendai Ndoro, Evans Rusike, Knowledge Musona, Khama Billiat and Ariel Sibanda 

Mapeza dropped former team captain Willard Katsande, his vice Cuthbert Malajila, and forwards Mathew Rusike and Nyasha Mushekwi, allegedly on the orders of his bosses at ZIFA.

This follows, an incident when Warriors players boycotted a farewell dinner where Vice President Emmerson Mnangagwa was the guest of honour. The players were protesting over allowances and winning bonuses before they departed for the 2017 Africa Cup of Nations.

According to online publication New Zimbabwe, some of the conditions on the indemnity forms read as follows:

“…Acceptance of Zifa’s choice of mode of payment and amount of allowances; acceptance without conditions of camping location and facilities.

Should a player not agree with any of the terms on the form they are free to go back home.”
