Thrift & Threads Expands Beyond Harare with Inaugural Bulawayo Edition

Thrift & Threads is set to make its first major move outside Harare, with the platform hosting its Bulawayo Edition on February 21, 2026. This marks a significant milestone for the fast-growing fashion and culture platform, which has built a reputation for celebrating thrifted fashion, sustainability, and original creative expression.
The move follows two successful editions in Harare in October and December 2025, which drew large crowds and established Thrift & Threads as a rising cultural movement in Zimbabwe. Organisers Mcheno and More emphasise that the Bulawayo edition is not just a replication of the Harare concept, but a collaborative space designed to highlight local designers, stylists, and artists, while also including creatives from Harare.
“We view fashion as a unifier of different communities, an outlet for individual and group expression,” said Takudzwa Hillary Chiwanza, one of the organisers. “This event is about trying new things and seeing where that takes us. Bulawayo is a great place for artistic brilliance, and that is what we want to explore.”
Bulawayo creative media platform Rise of Kings and Queens (RKQ) has partnered with Thrift & Threads for this edition, supporting the event’s goal of strengthening inter-city creative collaboration. “We are happy to be media partner of Thrift & Threads as it comes to Bulawayo for the first time,” said Keketso Sikabe, Administrator of RKQ. “This edition is about breaking new frontiers, building bridges between cities, and creating shared creative spaces where Zimbabwean talent can thrive.”
The Bulawayo Edition will feature a showcase of fashion, art, and music, with an emphasis on sustainability and creativity. The platform aims to provide a space where emerging designers and artists can network, collaborate, and gain exposure to a wider audience.
By expanding beyond Harare, Thrift & Threads seeks to broaden its cultural footprint and foster a nationwide appreciation for thrifted fashion and creative innovation. The Bulawayo edition promises to strengthen the connections between cities while celebrating the diversity and richness of Zimbabwean creative talent.
This event represents a new chapter for Thrift & Threads, positioning it as a dynamic force in Zimbabwe’s cultural landscape and a champion of sustainable, locally-driven creativity.
