Netone extends zero tariff facility to March as Ecocash continues to disappoint clients.

Netone has once again pulled a shocker. The telecommunications company has announced that it will extend its zero tariff program on all One-money transactions to March 2020 much to the relief of its customers. One money is a mobile payment system that allows the general public to transact and make payments using the netone platform.

Netone had earlier on announced that the zero tariff system was going to end on 31 December 2019. The zero tariff promotion has been said to be a means of cushioning the transacting public to pay school fees, make payments and to send and receive money. Netone has further stated,” We will continue with our mission to transform and develop lives through communication solutions, as we complement government efforts towards vision 2030- an upper middle class economy”.

The announcement has come as a welcome relief to most netone users whilst ecocash users have been migrating to using the Netone platform which is free of charges. Netone has indeed made great strides in the third quarter of the year by growing its subscriber base by over 27%. Its market share has also grown from 4.8% to 6% whilst that of its greatest competitor Econet dropped from 94.4% to 93.3%. Netone has also bolstered its agent and merchant network significantly by signing up ,19 000 agents and 11 000 merchants.

While Ecocash continues to dish out disappointments with poor customer service and slow problem solving mechanisms, Netone seems to be a better choice for most consumers.
