Bulawayo Dance Group Isizwe Sabatsha Expands into Catering Business

In a bold move to diversify income streams and empower its members, Bulawayo-based dance group Isizwe Sabatsha has ventured into the catering business. This initiative provides dancers with new skills while generating revenue to sustain their artistic pursuits.

The group’s founder, Lungile Ncube, announced the launch of The Nations Catering, a business inspired by the Ndebele word Isizwe, symbolizing the group’s dedication to cultural exchange and collaboration.

“We are excited to venture into catering, working hand-in-hand with professional cooks who not only bring expertise but also train our members in preparing different types of dishes,” Ncube told NewsDay Life & Style.

He expressed pride in the group’s achievements, highlighting how they have successfully catered for numerous functions without disappointment. “This venture has created another employment opportunity for our members, empowering them with new skills,” he said.

Formed on April 19, 2009, Isizwe Sabatsha has been a vital platform for young people aged 17 and above, keeping them engaged through the arts while offering opportunities for personal and professional growth.

Beyond dance, the group specializes in music, poetry, and theatre, keeping youths productive and providing them with career-building experiences. Over the years, Isizwe Sabatsha has performed alongside renowned artists such as Jeyz Marabini, Sandra Ndebele, and the legendary Soul Brothers. In April 2023, they had the honor of welcoming President Emmerson Mnangagwa at Joshua Mqabuko Nkomo International Airport.

Their performances have graced major events, including Skyz Metro FM’s first birthday celebrations, the Kwese iflix show at City Hall, and Pagomba Café in Beitbridge.

With their new catering business, Isizwe Sabatsha is proving that creativity and entrepreneurship can go hand in hand, setting an inspiring example for artists looking to expand their horizons.
