Bulawayo Prepares for the Supermed Health Expo 2025: A Celebration of Wellness and Community

Bulawayo is gearing up for one of the city’s most highly anticipated events of the year—the Supermed Health Expo 2025, set to take place on Saturday, May 3, at the Zimbabwe International Exhibition Centre (ZIEC) grounds. This third edition of the expo promises to be a vibrant blend of wellness, fitness, and entertainment, all aimed at promoting community health awareness.
The expo will feature a wide range of activities designed to encourage healthy living, with free health screenings being one of the key highlights. Attendees will have the opportunity to get their blood pressure, blood sugar, and cholesterol checked at no cost, making it easier for individuals to take charge of their health.
In addition to the health screenings, the expo will offer a variety of fitness sessions, including popular activities like Zumba and aerobics. By public demand, South African fitness trainer Nkululeko Zane Dlamini, better known as the “King of Squats,” will be returning to lead some of these energizing sessions. Dlamini, who has gained a massive following for his fitness expertise, will be supported by local trainers from prominent gyms such as Barberton and Beast Bae. Dlamini is expected to arrive in the city on Thursday, and his sessions are sure to draw a large crowd.
Entertainment will also be a major aspect of the event, with renowned DJs Mzoe, Nospa, and Eugy providing the beats throughout the day. Additionally, live performances from The Travellers Band will add a touch of musical flair to the festivities. For those seeking inspiration, motivational talks will be delivered by life coach Marilyn, while business insights will be shared by entrepreneur Arthur Evans, offering valuable knowledge on personal growth and career development.
Alleta Nyathi, Supermed’s marketing manager, emphasized that the expo is not only a celebration of health but also a gesture of gratitude to the Bulawayo community for their ongoing support. Nyathi highlighted the event’s commitment to raising awareness on mental health, a topic that has become increasingly important in addressing the challenges faced by the community. The expo will also touch on pressing social issues, including drug and substance abuse, offering resources and support to those in need.
“The event is open to everyone and serves as a celebration of life, while also emphasizing the importance of maintaining healthy practices. This is particularly significant given the rising social challenges affecting our community, such as drug and substance abuse and the often-overlooked issue of mental health struggles,” Nyathi explained.
The Supermed Health Expo has grown significantly over the years, and last year’s edition, held at the same venue, saw a remarkable increase in attendance. With over 2,000 participants, the expo surpassed the previous year’s turnout of around 500 attendees, which was held at Busters Sports Club. This growth demonstrates the community’s enthusiasm for events that promote wellness and healthy living.
As Bulawayo prepares for this exciting event, it is clear that the Supermed Health Expo 2025 will once again serve as a vital platform for promoting health, fitness, and community engagement. Whether you’re looking to take part in a fitness class, receive a free health screening, or simply enjoy some live entertainment, this year’s expo is set to be a memorable experience for all.
