DJ Fantan Appeals for Help After Ex-Wife and Children Disappear, Fears for Their Safety

In a heartbreaking turn of events, Zimbabwean musician DJ Fantan, born Arnold Kamudyariwa, has sent out a desperate SOS to his fans and the public after the disappearance of his ex-wife, Gamuchirai Nemukuyu, and their two minor children. The Chillspot Records founder has expressed concerns that his ex-wife might be planning to flee Zimbabwe with the children, potentially crossing the border without the proper documentation.
The disappearance took place on Wednesday, 5 March 2025, in Mbare, where the trio was last seen. Fantan, visibly shaken by the situation, has taken to social media to ask for help in locating them, sharing a photo of the missing individuals and urging anyone with information about their whereabouts to report it to the nearest police station.
“We are desperately searching for Gamuchirai Nemukuyu (Mai Fafi) and two minor children, Rufaro Kamudyariwa (6 years) and Ruvheneko Kamudyariwa (5 years), last seen Wednesday, 5 March 2025, in Mbare,” Fantan wrote in his Facebook post. “Information last received indicates that she may have plans to flee outside Zimbabwe with the children without proper travel documentation.”
In his plea, Fantan expressed his grave concern for the safety of his children, stating that their well-being is his primary worry. Despite the matter already being reported to the police, the musician fears for what might happen if his ex-wife does indeed manage to leave the country with the minors.
“We are extremely worried about the safety of all, and mainly the minor children,” Fantan added. “Anyone who has information about their whereabouts, please report to any nearest police station in Zimbabwe and also contact Arnold Kamudyariwa (Father) 0774339360 or Edith Katiyo (Grandma) at +263782009221 or +263771682805 immediately.”
Fantan’s call for assistance comes after a turbulent history between him and Nemukuyu. Last year, Nemukuyu accused Fantan of trying to control her life, claiming that he used their children to get back at her. She made these claims after Fantan approached the Harare Civil Court, stating that he was being denied access to his two children. Nemukuyu had expressed frustration with the ongoing legal issues, which reportedly led to clashes between Fantan and her new partner.
As the search continues, DJ Fantan’s fans and the public have rallied behind him, sharing his post in hopes of locating his family and ensuring the children’s safety. Authorities are investigating the matter, but the situation remains tense, with many hoping for a quick and peaceful resolution to the distressing situation.
