Eunice Dembo Receives Generous Gift from Wicknell Chivayo

Eunice Dembo, widow of the late legendary Zimbabwean musician Leonard Dembo, has expressed immense gratitude after becoming the latest recipient of businessman Wicknell Chivayo’s generosity. Chivayo, known for his philanthropic efforts, gifted Mai Dembo a brand-new Toyota Fortuner and a cash donation of US$50,000 to help her start a business.

The donation was made on National Youth Day, a gesture that Mai Dembo described as both unexpected and life-changing. In addition to her gifts, her two sons, Morgan and Tendai, along with her daughter Fenistia, each received Toyota Aqua vehicles from Chivayo.

A Timely Gesture

The generous offering came in response to media reports that Mai Dembo was facing financial struggles, including difficulties in covering her medical expenses. Speaking to H-Metro, she shared her astonishment and deep appreciation for Chivayo’s support.

“Firstly, I want to thank my son (Chivayo) for remembering me. I am speechless, totally out of words to thank him. I never expected him to have it in his mind that I am there as his mother,” she said.

Securing the Dembo Family’s Future

Mai Dembo emphasized that the gift could be a foundation for her family’s future prosperity.

“I think my brothers, children, and in-laws here are going to help me in my movements as you all know that I am no longer able to walk around alone. My dream now is to work hard so that one day I will invite my son (Chivayo) to come and witness the fruits of his gesture,” she stated.

She further highlighted the significance of the donation in honoring Leonard Dembo’s legacy.

“I think it is historic that one artist’s family receives four cars and US$50,000 on top. This has defined the late legendary Dembo’s legacy. May God give Chivayo many years of long, healthy life,” she said.

A Legacy Honored

Leonard Dembo, a revered musician in Zimbabwe, left behind a lasting impact through his music. The support from Chivayo ensures that his family can sustain themselves and continue to honor his name. The gesture has been widely praised, with many hailing Chivayo’s generosity as a reflection of his commitment to uplifting others.
