From Kwekwe to the UK Runway, Tafadzwa Marshal Champions Positive Change

From the small city of Kwekwe in Zimbabwe to the spotlight of the UK modeling scene, Tafadzwa Marshal’s journey reflects more than personal ambition. A finalist in the upcoming Mr. Africa UK/Ireland 2025 competition, he is using his platform to drive conversations around abuse, empowerment, and social change.

Tafadzwa’s modeling career began in South Africa, where his passion for fashion and design first opened doors. Over time, his path took a new direction. After seeing the struggles of abused women and vulnerable youth, he realized that modeling could be more than appearances. “I came to understand that modeling is not just about the clothes you wear or the runway you walk. It is about the message you carry and the people you represent,” he said.

Now based in the UK, Tafadzwa has expanded his influence through advocacy and community initiatives. He serves as a brand ambassador for Diaspora Insurance and works closely with Project Salama, a charity focused on social impact. Together, they created Positive Masculinity, a weekly online programme hosted on Zoom. The platform provides a safe space for dialogue, encouraging participants to share experiences and explore solutions around social challenges.

His mission is anchored in dismantling barriers that limit opportunity. “I want to help break down the systemic barriers that stop people from being safe, educated, healthy, and economically independent,” Tafadzwa explained.

His advocacy has already reached wider audiences. A recent interview on a Berkshire radio station highlighted his work, drawing attention to the urgency of addressing abuse and strengthening community resilience.

As the Mr. Africa UK/Ireland 2025 competition approaches on September 13, Tafadzwa remains focused on his purpose. While the title would be a milestone, he insists the crown is not the end goal. “With or without the crown, I will continue to pursue my purpose. This is bigger than a competition. It’s about bringing meaningful change to my community and beyond,” he said.

Tafadzwa’s story illustrates how modeling can evolve into a platform for advocacy. By blending fashion with social responsibility, he is demonstrating that visibility and influence can be tools for transformation.
