Gospel Musician Mambo Dhuterere Accused of Abandoning His Wife and Children Amid Marital Turmoil

Popular gospel musician Mambo Dhuterere has reportedly walked out on his wife, Amai Dhuterere, leaving her to raise their four children alone in Harare. The couple, once seen as a beacon of unity in the local gospel scene, has allegedly been living separately for several months following a breakdown in their relationship.

Reports suggest that Dhuterere abruptly moved out of their family home, citing misfortunes he claims were linked to his wife. Sources say he accused Amai Dhuterere of bringing him bad luck, including his failure to receive a car from flamboyant businessman Wicknell Chivayo. The gospel singer’s accusations reportedly intensified after Amai Dhuterere faced fraud charges at the Harare Magistrates’ Court in December last year.

“He appears to be a nice man in public, but he has been subjecting his wife to ridicule, sometimes blaming her for his misfortunes,” a source close to the family told local media. “At one point, he even blamed her for his failure to get a car from Sir Wicknell Chivayo.”

The source added that the separation has taken a heavy toll on the couple’s children, particularly their eldest, who is struggling with the family fallout.

In addition to the recent legal woes, tension had reportedly been simmering for years over the presence of a child from Amai Dhuterere’s previous relationship. Although the couple initially agreed to raise the child together, insiders claim Dhuterere never fully accepted the arrangement and began to withdraw from the family.

Amai Dhuterere has since confirmed their separation, stating that she has been enduring the hardship in silence. “I have been keeping this to myself because of my condition. I don’t want to be depressed and end up losing our unborn child,” she said.

She expressed heartbreak over her husband’s sudden departure, revealing that despite the emotional abuse and challenges, she still holds love for him as the father of her children. “Our kids desperately need him, and I am praying he will come back to his senses,” she said.

“I still love him… but the abuse I have endured is too much. There are a few people who know about this issue because I have been trying hard to conceal it. I have come to a point where I feel I have had enough,” she added.

Mambo Dhuterere has yet to publicly comment on the matter.
