Dereck Chisora appointed heavyweight champ mandatory challenger

Dereck Chisora said he wanted 2014 to be a year when he 'brings back the world title to Britain'.

Zimbabwean born boxer Dereck Chisora is set to challenge Erkan Teper for the European heavyweight title after the EBU placed Chisora as the mandatory contender to face the man who knocked out compatriot David Price.

‘Del Boy’ put himself back in the title picture with a 30-second victory over Beqa Lobjanidze last month and was placed as the EBU’s next in line as soon as he got back in the win column.

European rules state that anyone with a loss last time out cannot challenge for the title and Chisora was defeated by Tyson Fury at the back in of 2014 after previously picking up the belt from Edmund Gerber in September 2013.

Both parties are stated to be in negotiations, although no deadline has yet been set for an agreement.
