Khabonina Qubeka Lauds Phillip Tinashe Gwatidzo’s Novel as “Generational, Groundbreaking Literature”

Renowned South African actress Khabonina Qubeka has praised Changamire Dombo – The Legend, a novel by German-based Zimbabwean author Phillip Tinashe Gwatidzo, calling it a “generational, groundbreaking literature.”
The Shaka iLembe star took to Instagram to endorse the book, questioning the lack of pre-colonial African history in school curricula. Qubeka showcased an AI-enhanced promotional clip of the novel, advocating for its inclusion in African education systems. She emphasized the importance of such works in fostering pride and identity among young Africans amidst global influences.
Gwatidzo expressed deep gratitude for the endorsement, saying, “It is truly an honor to have someone of Khabonina’s stature believe in and share the vision of this book.” He highlighted that his project aims to provide African children with a source of pride and self-recognition.
Changamire Dombo – The Legend has already been incorporated into Zimbabwe’s A-Level curriculum. Gwatidzo hopes to expand the narrative across various media, including animation, series, and film, with the core mission of making African identity appealing to the continent’s youth.
With over 4,000 copies sold in 25 nations, the author is now focused on aggressive marketing across Africa. He is seeking support from Zimbabwe’s Ministry of Sports, Recreation, Arts, and Culture while calling on Pan-Africanists to join his vision of reshaping Africa’s historical narrative towards pride and empowerment.
Despite challenges in securing local support, Gwatidzo sees international recognition as a sign of growing momentum. He believes his project can also contribute to Africa’s creative industries, tourism, and youth employment.
