Outrage over Uyinene’s rape and murder.
As news of the death of South African university student Uyinene Mrweytana spread like wildfire, manypeople could hardly contain their anger. The young student disappeared about a week ago. Social media had been awash with messages and exhortations for people to assist in locating her.
She was later on found murdered and raped. Although t incident took place in South Africa, many local organizations and citizens have been speaking out against the sexual abuse of women and murder. Uyinene is alleged to have to the post office to collect a parcel.She was advised to come back later as there was a power cut. When she returned,she was lured inside by an employee at the post office. He had raped her and bludgeoned her to death.
Many celebrities have been speaking out against such actions and condemned the perpetrator for such a heinous act. Siba Mtongana bemoaned lack of security for women in South Africa. Nasty C advised women to walk in groups as they were many sick minded men out there. The cast of Isidingo also said they were saddened by the killing of women in South Africa. Manaka Ranaka also said that going to the post office was not supposed to be a crime or an invitation to be raped and murdered.
