Super Size Me Africa Zimbabwe Empowers Curves in Ground-Breaking Celebration of Plus-Size Beauty

Tomorrow, 24 May 2025, the Spitzkop Leisure Centre in Harare will host a landmark event as Super Size Me Africa Zimbabwe takes centre stage. Over 300 guests are expected to attend a dynamic day of fashion, wellness, music, entrepreneurship and cultural celebration—all in honour of plus-size women and the movement towards body positivity across the continent.

Super Size Me Africa Zimbabwe goes beyond a typical showcase. Founded by visionary entrepreneur Alice Chinya, the initiative is “a bold, proud reclaiming of size, space and strength”. This event embodies the core mission of the wider Super Size Me Africa movement: to challenge narrow beauty standards, promote self-love and foster inclusivity for women of all shapes and sizes.

The event will feature a vibrant plus-size modelling showcase, highlighting designs from local and international talent and demonstrating the elegance and versatility of curvy silhouettes. Wellness and team-building sessions will offer guests the opportunity to engage in self-care and confidence-building exercises led by mental health professionals and life coaches.

Guests will be treated to an exciting Afrobeat dance session, poetry readings, and live music performances from emerging Zimbabwean artists. A diverse range of vendors and small businesses will be on site, offering plus-size fashion, handmade crafts, beauty products and wellness essentials. Attendees will also benefit from entrepreneurship talks covering branding, marketing, and financial growth, empowering creatives and business owners alike.

Families are welcome, with a designated kids’ zone providing fun and safe activities for children throughout the day. The event is designed to be inclusive and engaging for people of all ages and backgrounds.

By showcasing plus-size beauty and celebrating African women in all their glory, Super Size Me Africa Zimbabwe is reshaping perceptions and building a stronger, more inclusive community. According to Alice Chinya, the goal is to ensure every woman feels confident, visible and proud of her body, no matter her size.

This event is not only a celebration but a bold step toward empowerment, self-love and broader representation. Follow the journey online with the hashtag #SuperSizeMeAfricaZW and be part of a movement that’s changing the face of beauty across the continent.
