Tadiwanashe Mtetwa to Represent Zimbabwe at Miss Tourism Africa International 2025

In what she describes as a dream come true, 20-year-old model Tadiwanashe Tatenda Mtetwa is set to represent Zimbabwe at the prestigious Miss Tourism Africa International 2025 pageant in Nigeria next month. Recently crowned Miss Tourism Africa Zimbabwe 2025, Mtetwa will carry the nation’s flag and her mission of environmental advocacy onto the continental stage.

Mtetwa hails from Chimanimani, a mountainous district known for its natural beauty. Her rise in pageantry reflects perseverance and commitment to community development. She first drew attention in 2024 when she earned the second princess title at the Young Women 4ED competition. Later, she became first princess at Miss Elite Zimbabwe before making history at Miss Tourism Zimbabwe, where she was crowned the first-ever Miss Tourism Africa Zimbabwe.

The title was created to celebrate models who embody beauty, intelligence, and dedication to tourism and community-building. For Mtetwa, it is also a platform to amplify her passion for the environment. She is the founder of Earthcare Champions, a community-driven project focused on tree planting and environmental education, aligning with the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goal 13 on climate action.

“Through Earthcare Champions, I aim to create awareness and action around the importance of preserving our natural heritage. Our forests and ecosystems are vital to our survival, and it is important that young people understand their role in protecting the environment,” Mtetwa said.

With contestants from across the continent expected at the Nigeria pageant, Mtetwa views the opportunity with humility and determination. “I am truly honoured and humbled to represent Zimbabwe in Nigeria. It is a privilege to showcase our country’s rich culture, heritage and values on an international platform. I am excited to share our unique perspectives and learn from the Nigerian people, fostering greater understanding and friendship between our nations. I am ready to give my best and make Zimbabwe proud,” she added.

The Miss Tourism Africa International pageant is designed to celebrate beauty while promoting tourism and cross-cultural understanding. Contestants serve as ambassadors for their countries and are encouraged to take active roles in socio-economic development, particularly in tourism and environmental advocacy.

Mtetwa’s growing profile represents the evolution of pageantry in Africa, where models increasingly use the stage for cultural diplomacy and sustainable development advocacy. Her manager, Temba Gata, expressed confidence in her potential, saying she has all the qualities needed to make history.

As the Nigeria event approaches, Mtetwa is undergoing intensive preparations that include cultural training, wardrobe fittings, and rehearsals. Her goal extends beyond winning the crown. She aims to leave a lasting impression as a young African woman committed to progress, purpose, and pride in her roots.

Backed by her management team and her Chimanimani community, Mtetwa believes she has already achieved something extraordinary. “Whether or not I take home the title, I feel I have already won by becoming a symbol of hope and empowerment for young Zimbabweans and Africans,” she said.

Her journey to Miss Tourism Africa International 2025 underscores how pageantry has become a powerful platform for advocacy, cultural exchange, and youth empowerment across the continent.
