Victoria Falls To Launch “Yoga With The Elephants” In Wellness Tourism Boost

Victoria Falls is set to introduce a captivating new wellness experience — “Yoga with the Elephants” — as part of its growing portfolio of yoga offerings that blend mindfulness with nature. The announcement came during the 11th International Day of Yoga celebrations held in the city last weekend, with support from the Indian Embassy to Zimbabwe.
Observed globally on June 21, this year’s International Yoga Day was celebrated under the theme “Yoga for One Earth, One Family, One Future.” The serene yoga session in Victoria Falls, attended by nearly 300 participants, was held along the banks of the Zambezi River and led by Kerrith O’Fee, founder of Victoria Falls Yoga.
“Victoria Falls Yoga offers immersive wellness experiences set in iconic locations including Yoga at the Falls, Yoga on the Bridge, Yoga on the Zambezi, and the soon-to-launch Yoga with Elephants,” O’Fee said.
O’Fee, along with a passionate team of local residents, has been working closely with the Indian Embassy over the past four years to promote yoga as both a physical and spiritual practice in one of Africa’s premier tourist destinations.
“Alongside these signature experiences, weekly studio sessions and private classes provide guests with a chance to reconnect, breathe, and move mindfully,” she added. “The mission of Victoria Falls Yoga is to offer meaningful wellness journeys that inspire connection — to self, to nature, and to the spirit of Africa.”
Rooted in ancient Indian philosophy, yoga is far more than a form of exercise — it’s a holistic science of wellness, balance, and inner peace. O’Fee emphasized that yoga cultivates strength, mental clarity, and a deeper sense of awareness, enabling people to lead more mindful and sustainable lives.
“This mindfulness allows one to choose healthier and more sustainable lifestyles. In caring for ourselves, we begin to care for the Earth, reflecting the enduring Indian ethos of Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam – the world is one family,” she noted.
India’s ambassador to Zimbabwe, Bramha Kumar, also attended the event and spoke about yoga’s universal relevance in an increasingly complex world. “India has showcased the multifaceted benefits of yoga, including through joint scientific research, exchanges of traditional knowledge, and innovative wellness initiatives grounded in yoga,” Kumar said.
He encouraged communities across Zimbabwe to embrace yoga as a tool for personal and collective well-being. He also revealed that India is working to strengthen cooperation with Zimbabwe in the field of traditional knowledge, wellness, and preventive health care, including plans to establish an AYUSH chair at a Zimbabwean university.
As the city prepares to roll out its newest offering — “Yoga with the Elephants” — Victoria Falls is poised to become a leading destination for wellness tourism, attracting visitors seeking inner peace, nature-based experiences, and cultural enrichment all in one.
