Zimbabwean Musician Dr Tawanda Seeks Help After Life-Altering Accident

Zimbabwean musician Dr Tawanda, whose real name is Tawanda Kasaira, has reached out to well-wishers for financial assistance after a recent accident left him severely injured and unable to afford the surgery he urgently needs. The award-winning artist was involved in a horrific accident on March 6 in Mutare, during which he broke his hand, ribs, and suffered head injuries. The injuries have left him bedridden and unable to perform his music duties.

In an emotional interview with H-Metro, Dr Tawanda revealed the gravity of his situation, explaining that he requires medical treatment in South Africa to heal his injuries and resume his career. “The accident occurred on March 6, in Mutare and I sustained serious injuries on my ribs, my hand, and the head. The hand broke and I need surgical treatment. So, it’s true that I am looking for help for me to go to South Africa for treatment,” he said.

The musician, known for his popular tracks, mentioned that the surgery would cost between US$500 and US$1,000, an amount he is unable to raise on his own at the moment.

Dr Tawanda shared that the accident took place while he was traveling from visiting his children at school. “It happened in Mutare when I was coming from seeing my children at school. I was in the company of my relatives, and we all survived but with serious injuries,” he recalled.

The musician expressed deep concern over his career and future, as his injuries have left him unable to perform and fulfill his usual commitments. “But now I am down, remember, being an artist you have to be visible throughout. I am not able to work properly due to the injuries. I am bedridden and it’s hard for me to do my usual duties,” he said, showing his fear of not returning to his former self after the recovery.

Dr Tawanda’s plea for help has touched the hearts of many, and his fans and well-wishers are now rallying to support him in his time of need, hoping to see the talented musician back on stage soon.
