Zimbabwe ultra marathon runner Stephen Muzhingi has begun preparing for the Legends marathon which will be run in East London on the 3rd of October.

In a tweet made by the 3 time comrades marathon winner Muzhingi declared his intentions at the legends marathon, “Am full time training. In 2014 I did not finish but this year am coming to set record straight,” Muzhingi said.

Muzhingi is widely known for his dominance at the comrade’s marathon. The Zimbabwean ultra marathon runner won the 2010 Comrades Marathon with a time of 05:29:01 – 5minutes slower than his first win in 2009. In 2011, he became the first man in 23 years to win the Comrades Marathon three successive times. Stephen Muzhingi has 6 Gold Comrades Marathon medals.

In 2012 he became the second man only to hold both the Two Oceans Ultra Marathon and Comrades Marathon titles simultaneously. He holds numerous other records for long distance running and hopes to add to his titles when he competes at the legends marathon slated for East London on Saturday the 3rd of October from Bhisho Stadium to the Jan Smuts Stadium in East London.

Once again the race will consist of three distances namely the 68km race starting at Bhisho stadium at 06:00 and finishing at the Jan Smuts Stadium in East London. The 21,1 km race starting at Jan Smuts Stadium at 07:00 and finishing at Jan Smuts Stadium in East London and the 5km Fun run.
