The Zimbabwe basketball team is set to clash with German top sides as they brace up for competitive action at the Afro-Basket basketball extravaganza slated for Tunisia from the 19th to the 30th August. Among sides Zimbabwe will clash with during their 10 day visit of Germany is Bundesliga outfit Hamburg Basketball Verband.
The Zim basketball team will also meet with the German national side in a friendly to be played a day before heading toTunisia. Zimbabwe has been preparing for the Afro-Basketball championships by holding several camps but encounters against German sides are expected to adequately prepare the team for competitive action in Tunisia.
The Zim team will begin their Afro-basket campaign with a showdown against Algeria on 20 August. Zimbabwe will then lock horns with Ivory Coast on the 22nd before rounding off their campaign in the group stages by clashing with Cape Verde on the 24th.
With talented players such as Vitalis Chikoko, Wilson Juma, Andrew Gonese and Tinotenda Mugabe Zimbabwean coach Ellery Pinkerton should be confident of going beyond the group stage.
