Mark Fynn progresses in Turkey

Zimbabwe's number 2 tennis, Mark Fynn in action at the NetOne Futures Tournament played at Harare Sports Club last week.

Zimbabwe Davis cup player Mark Fynn progressed to the second round of the Turkey F33 futures tournament after overcoming Turkey’s Sefa Suluoglu 6-3, 6-7, 7-6 on Tuesday.

Fynn who made the main draw after having gone through qualifiers won the first set 6-3 in just over an hour. Fynn then took a commanding position in the second set as he raced to a 5-3 lead. With the match at his mercy Fynn allowed his Turkish opponent to bounce back from 3-5 down and eventually take the set 7-6.

Like in the second set Mark Fynn dominated in the third again taking a 5-3 lead. Similiar to what had transpired in the second set Sefa Suluoglu bounced back from 3-5 down to level games at 5-5.

The encounter would go to a decisive tie break where Fynn was able to remain composed and win 7-4. Victory saw the Zimbabwean Davis Cup player progress to the second round of the Turkey futures tourney.

In the second round Fynn is scheduled to meet another Turkish player Cem Ilkel on Wednesday morning.
