Freddy Mukwesha inducted into hall of fame

Zimbabwean football legend Freddy Mukwesha was inducted into the hall of fame at the annual national sports awards held in Harare on Wednesday evening. Mukwesha who passed away and was laid to rest last week was inducted into the hall of fame together with four other athletes.

The former Dynamos player is widely known for being the first Zimbabwean player to play in Europe after catching the eye of Portuguese side Sporting De Braga before independence.

Before his European move Mukwesha played for Dynamos and also turned out for the Zimbabwe national soccer team. The Dynamos son was part of the glamour boys founder members.

Also to be inducted into the hall of fame was athlete Bernard Dzomba, tennis player Patricia Pretorious, swimmer John Keyter and squash player Gay Erskine.
