Hope Masike to release new video.

Mbira songstress Hope Masike has announced that she will be releasing a new video on 5 July. This comes just days after she posted an image showing a behind the scenes making of a video. Masike had expressed gratitude to her crew for working tirelessly to ensure that her video was properly executed. Masike had bemoaned lack of adequate funds to shoot a video. She had even jokingly remarked that there was no shoe not string to speak of in the budget but it had been made possible by the concerted effort of her team.

The new video is called Idenga which literary translates to ‘its heaven’s. She said that it was a love song in which one lover is saying to the other that whenever they are together it is heaven. Masike further recommended people to watch the new video upon its release as it was creatively done. Speaking on the content of the song, she said it is a yummy and sexy song.

The song is part of her new album called The exorcism of a spinster’. The album is set to be launched on 26 July. It is her third album. Masike is one of the pioneers of mbira music in Zinbabwe, particularly as a female. She often refers to herself as gwenyambirakadzi. She has however made it known that she is not into spiritual rituals associated with mbira music. She merely loves its sound and nature.

Masike has toured numerous countries. She has released songs such as huyai tinamate and ndinewe. She is globally recognized and was once nominated for a Kora award.
