Veteran sports reporter and media personality Francis Nyamutsamba scooped the best Sports reporter of the year award at the just ended National Journalism Sports Awards held in Harare yesterday. The eloquent presenter beat stiff competition to claim the coveted award at a glitzy ceremony in Avondale at The Venue.
Nyamutsamba joined the national broadcaster ZBC in 2009 and has held several positions including being a producer for the “Good morning Zimbabwe” show, news presenter and talk show host. He has also produced several top notch sports documentaries focusing on sport related issues such as the marginalisation of women in sport and biographies for sports stars suh as Bruce Grobelaar and Callisto Pasuwa.
The humble faced journalist is famous for his sharp command of the English language. His clear accent is certainly sweet music to the ears of all sport news lovers. Nyamutsamba was all smiles as he received his award last night, which category is sponsored by FBC bank. His followers congratulated him and confessed that they had been secretly hoping for his victory because he is such a dedicated and hard worker. Nyamutsamba has raised high the ZBC banner as he beat top contenders from both electronic and print media houses from all over Zimbabwe.
The NJAMA awards are the biggest media awards in the country. They are organised by the Zimbabwe Union of Journalists. The awards have numerous sponsors including PSMAS, FBC bank, Delta and Zimpapers among others. Another winner from ZBC was Chamunorwa Murava who was awarded the best reporter in legal and parliamentary affairs.
