Mutare based journalist Clayton Masekesa has turned to music. He is famous for being recorded as he was being assaulted and made to roll in mud after being caught pants down with a married woman. The illicit affair cost him his reputation. Masekesa has now made a comeback into the limelight with a four track album titled The Main actor.
In one of the songs “Pondai”, Masekesa revisits his ordeal when he was caught making love to a married woman. His assailants were later charged and convicted. Masekesa’s album was recorded at Kunashe Studios in Mutare. It was produced by Ollind Anderson. He was backed by the Eastern Stars Band.
The singer said he is looking forward to holding shows around the country. He also expressed gratitude to her fans for their support. He marvelled at the overwhelming response that his music has received. Masekesa remarked,”Many people know me as a journalist for many years and a keen soccer player and administrator,but I have always been in music”. He said he has been assisting top musicians behind the scenes. Most people are anxiously waiting to attend Masekesa’s shows and get a taste of his music.
Masekesa stirred controvesy early this year when he penned down a love letter to UK based socialite Olinda Chapel expressing his undying love for her. Ironically one of the songs on his album is titled Olinda.
