Zimbabwe Ezekiel Guti University (ZEGU) To Be Demolished
Businessman Charles Chakumba is reportedly suing ZAOGA for building a university on his gold mine and the judge ordered ZAOGA to demolish their buildings out of the Businessman’s premise in order for him to conduct his gold mining operations freely.
High Court judge Justice Joseph Musakwa granted the default judgement after ZAOGA and its respective lawyers failed to show up for the pre-trial conference.
Businessman Chakumba was allocated the gold claims at Barasse Farm in Bindura in 1994 by the Ministry of Mines and Mining Development, he has been using the area from then until 2010 when ZAOGA was given the same piece of land by Bindura Municipality which they used to built their University.
In order for the original landowner to use his premise again the university’s state of the art educational facilities and other structures on the premises now have to be evacuated.
The ZIOGA church argued that their failure to attend the pre-trial conference was due to the date misinterpretation on the part of the lawyers secretary who was served with the pre-trial hearing but misfiled it.
The Zimbabwe Council For Higher Education has stopped Zimbabwe Ezekiel Guti University from enrolling law students.
