Highlanders, FC Platinum Set for Thrilling Matchup

This weekend, Highlanders and FC Platinum are gearing up for a potentially thrilling match scheduled for Saturday at Mandava Stadium.

Following their narrow 1-0 victory over Black Rhinos in their last match, Highlanders will be aiming for another full-point haul when they travel to Zvishavane for a challenging fixture against FC Platinum. Given that the Bulawayo giants have yet to suffer a defeat in the 2023 Castle Lager Premier Soccer League, there’s a general agreement that Highlanders enter Saturday’s clash as the favorites.

Despite facing a more dominant team, FC Platinum will be seeking to restore some pride against Bosso. After a 2-1 loss in the reverse fixture at Barbourfields Stadium, FC Platinum is aiming to outperform their rivals and secure their first league win in five matches.

Last weekend, FC Platinum relied on an 80th-minute equalizer from Thandolwenkosi Ngwenya to secure a point, and coach Norman Mapeza will be hoping his team brings that same determination to their match against Highlanders. Despite Rainsome Pavari’s absence due to a red card received against ZPC Kariba, Mapeza remains confident heading into Saturday’s clash.

Highlanders aim to further strengthen their position at the top, carrying a five-point lead into matchday 20. With 41 points and a five-point lead over second-placed Ngezi Platinum, the Bulawayo giants are looking to make another significant stride in their pursuit of their first league title since 2006.

While hopes of league glory seem distant for Norman Mapeza’s team, who are 14 points behind, a victory over Bosso could spark hope of a possible resurgence in a league marathon that is far from over.
