Zimbabwe’s most influential women of 2018
Pokello Nare – Socialite and businesswoman Pokello Nare was a force to reckon with in 2018. The queen of swagger successfully maintained her fashion and shoe line whilst dealing with a divorce from her husband Elikem Kurmodzie. Pokello has always been on the forefront in terms of advocating for women’s health and grooming.
Kirsty Coventry – The gold medalist and the chairperson of the international Olympic committee’s athletes commission was appointed Minister of sport and recreation in September 2018 much to the jubilation of members of the sports fraternity.
Ammara Brown – singer, actor and brand ambassador Ammara Brown was making headlines in 2018. Not only did she release a new single with Nigerian artist Mr Eazi and showcase her skills at the ammartia ignite concert, she also managed to reach great milestones in her career as she relocated to South Africa
Auxilia Mnangagwa – First lady Auxilia Mnangagwa was a busy bee in 2018. She started the Angels of Hope Foundation to uplift disadvantaged children and was very instrumental in ensuring that all women and girls were vaccinated against cervical cancer. Auxilia also started various projects for women in rural areas
Madam Boss – Madam Boss managed to start her own makeup line. The comedian and brand ambassador was also nominated for the People’s choice award at the Zim international woman awards as well as scooping five national awards and two international awards. Late last year she went on a sponsored tour to the United States.
Ruvheneko Parirenyatwa – The talk show host and radio personality spread her wings far as she was selected to be a panelist on the BBC show The She Word. She is the first ever Zimbabwean to appear on the show.
Danai Gurira – The American based actress and playwright who rose to fame in the hit series “The walking dead” raised the country’s flag high when she started in the movie The black panther. The movie broke the box office and was nominated for several awards including the golden globes.
