Stewart Nyamayaro in copyright war

The popular Youtube account of music marketer and promoter Stewart Nyamayaro has been terminated by Youtube owing to alleged copyright breaches, youthvillage Zimbabwe can exclusively reveal.

According to sources the account termination follows a wrangle between Nyamayaro and Slymedia Tv. Slymedia Tv is believed to have reported Nyamayaro to Youtube for having breached copyright laws by making use of Slymedia Tv content without its approval.

Nyamayaro’s account had grown to be a platform where thousands of Zimbabweans got to see fresh musical content but after the eruption of a fight involving Sly Media and Stewart Nyamayarovyoutube took the decision to bring down Nyamayaro’s account. Youtube is sensitive to copyright infringements and is quick to terminate any youtube users that breach issues of copyright.

Sly media Tv is a local video content provider which offers content of varying nature ranging from current affairs to music. The organisation was founded by Sylvester Tapfumaneyi a former employee of the Zimbabws Broadcasting Corporation.

Copyright is a legal right, existing in many countries, that grants the creator of an original work exclusive rights to determine whether, and under what conditions, this original work may be used by others. This is usually only for a limited time. Copyright is often misunderstood by many and has resulted in the shutdown of several accounts on youtube.
