Ccosa students donate to cyclone victims
Christian College of Southern Africa students recently visited and donated to the people affected by cyclone Idai in Chimamimani. The students visited the eastern highlands on sunday and were received by the military which assisted them.
The Ccosa Journalism, IT and Business students and their lecturers were all part of the trip to Chimanimani. The college donated clothes, Kitchen utensils, women sanitary wear and many others basic comodities.
Journalism students at the college had the opportunity of interviewing one of the women affected by the Cyclone who said that the food is not being shared equally to the people and village chiefs are being given more than other citizens… “Masabhuku ndiwo arikupiwa Chikafu chakawanda ungava hupfu kana mafuta” she said.
The students also managed to talk to the military with questions pertaining to the destribution of food posed. Millitary personal said that the food is been dIstributed to all the people fairly and dismissed the allegations that the food is not been distributed fairly with Ccosa students thanked for showing sympathy towards the people of Chimanimani.
The Cossa Students also helped the military to distribute maelie meal and women sanitary wear to the people. The situation in Chimanimani is more likely to worsen if the government does not relocate the people. The availability of clean water is scarce and cholera is likely to affect the area.
Cossa is a Christian college which is renowned for having nurtured a number of top journalists. The college is known for producing top notch journalists such as Rumbidzai Takawira who has risen to become one of the sought after anchors in the country.
