Tocky vibes’ song banned from radio.
Musician Tocky vibes recently released a new album titled ‘Villagers’ money’s. The new album has been doing very well until a recent set back. The Broadcasting association of Zimbabwe has issued a statement banning one of the songs on the album from being palyed on radio. The song is called African queen (Binga).
They said they had received complaints about the song being offensive to the people of Binga as it denigrates them. In the song, Tocky vibes tells his African wueen that if she comes and stays with him in Binga then she would have to walk around naked. This has been taken to be an insult.
Tocky has however expressed displeasure at the ban. He said that his song is a celebration of African women, particularly those from the Binga culture. He said he got inspiration from the song Dzamutsana by Jah Prayzah which also depicts the culture and heritage of the Binga people.
Tocky vibes s not the first artist to embrace African background issues such as nudity. Vimbai Zimuto also caused furore a few months ago after posting a series of her naked images. She also averred that she was merely following n the footsteps of her ancestors who walked around naked and never considered it to be a shameful thing
