Prisca Mupfumira’s second attempt to gain freedom.

Former Minister of Tourism and Hospitality and Zanu Pf poitiburo member, Prisca Mupfumira has made another attempt to gain freedom. The minister is accused of swindling NSSA of over US 95 million dollars. She was initially denied bail at the Magistrate’s court after the prosecutor general certified her detention for 21 days pending investigations.

Mupfumira made a new bail application at the high court Harare yesterday. Advocate Lewis Uriri acting in instructions from Chinyama and Associates argued that there were no compelling reasons to further detain the minister. He argued that she had not attempted to flee the jurisdiction of the courts when the charges were brought to her attention.

He further argued that the minister was a resident of Zimbabwe, of fixed abode and owned property in the country. The state represented by Mrs S Fero, made an application for the matter to be deferred to today in order for her to go through the application and file her response. Justice Ndewere potsponed the matter.

The newly appointed ZACC leadership has been coming down hard on all those alleged to have been involved in corrupt activities. Mupfumira was the first person to be arrested by the new board.
