World Bank Africa Fellowship Program calls for applications.
The Work Bank Africa Fellowship Program is once again on the cards. The initiative which is a project of the Work Bank group is calling for applications for its program from all early career African economists interested in getting experience at the World Bank.
The program is for those who have recently completed or are in the process of completing their Ph. D’s. They just be aged below 32 years. The ideal candidate maust have an excellent command of the English language. The program is for all sub Saharan African Nationals.
The program was launched in 2013 and is aimed at young, talented African nationals whose field of expertise is relevant to the operations of the World bank. These include economics, education, health, governance and demography among others. The program has been a huge success in previous years in identifying and nurturing young African talent.
The 2020 program is being driven by the World Bank group together with Think Africa patnership, a private sector entity. 15 candidates will be hosted as well as an additional 10 for t fellowship positions. Special focus will be on the private sector development and finance.
Chosen candidates will be offered a 6 month assignment at the World bank offices in Washing to DC or one of their country offices. This is to enable the candidate to get experience in the operations of the World Bank group. Areas to be highlighted include knowledge generation, design of global and country policies and building of institutions and growth in developing countries among others.
The deadline for applications is 25 August 2019. Those interested can apply online. The engagement date for successful applicants is Jan to June 2020. Benefits include being paid consultant fees, a round-trip economy class air travel to Washington DC and being given the workers compensation insurance.
