Politicians, celebrities and ordinary citizens pay their last respects to former president R.G. Mugabe.

The infamous “blue roof” compound, home of the late former president Robert Mugabe has been flooded with people coming to pay their last respects to their former leader. Since the arrival of his body from Singapore yesterday, many people have been lodged at the mansion. Notable figures such as the president of Zimbabwe Emmerson Mnangagwa, army generals and even opposition leader Advocate Nelson Chamisa came to give their condolences and comfort the former first family.

Celebrities like Pokello, Mai Titi and several others could also be seen at the blue roof. Ladies of the Chimurenga choir showed off their waist wriggling skills as they churned out Chimurenga songs and heaped praises upon the late former president of Zimbabwe. The venue was packed with many people jostling to get inside and offer their words of comfort.

The former president is said to be buried this week. It however seems as if the place of burial has not yet been agreed upon. Speaking on SABC lunchtime news, the nephew of the former president, Patrick Zhuwao said that the place of burial will be confirmed by the family. There have been disagreements between the government d the family members in relation to that issue? The government is advocating for his burial at the national heroes acre since he was conferred with hero status whereas that family is moving for the motion that he should be buried in his rural home in Zvimba.

A gloomy and sad atmosphere engulfed the blue roof as people mourned the former war liberator. Robert Mugabe passed away at the age of 95. Grace Mugabe, his widow, has been covering her face with a black veil as she paid her last respects to her husband.
